Telehealth

In 2020 the COVID pandemic changed how all business operated, including medical practices.  In medicine, this has created an opportunity for innovation and change.

While in-person meetings are always preferred, improved Telehealth has made specialist care more accessible to many British Columbians. It also allows those living outside the province to receive timely and appropriate care.

The physical examination is limited in a Telehealth encounter, which means it is not appropriate for all neurology or sleep matters, but for many people, there is sufficient information to answer a clinical question, especially if parts of the examination can be completed by other health professionals or if other testing has already taken place.
